“We are going to do our due diligence as a state.  For every federal dollar that we think will benefit Georgians long term and short term, we are going to go after it.  For those that cost more than it’s worth, we will probably not.”

Notification on NTIA Application Submittal Dates

NTIA has granted a limited extension of time to file infrastructure (CCI) applications in the second funding round. Specifically, applicants who file as a BTOP Comprehensive Community Infrastructure projects will now have until March 26th to file their applications to BTOP. Applications in BTOP's other two project categories, Public Computer Centers and Sustainable Broadband Adoption, remain due on March 15th.

This extension was granted in the interest of ensuring that all applicants have a fair opportunity to participate in Round 2. Because CCI projects are generally larger and more complex, CCI projects warranted reconsideration of their filing deadline. Additionally some applications are still under active consideration in Round 1, so the extension will give those applicants additional time to strengthen their proposals.

I don't foresee material delays to either the state notification process or the timelines for return of state comment; we will notify you when our state comment timelines have been made official. On behalf of NTIA I will work with all of you to ensure the state consultation process remains smooth, timely and on target.

Thanks,

Rich Calhoun
